Animal Totem Reading  For this part of the reading, I pull one card from my "Medicine Cards."  The animal totem (symbol) that comes up will indicate what you most need to know, focus on, do and/or learn at this time. This card will invariably emphasize an issue that has already come up in the Tarot Reading. It's also likely that the Universe has recently put this animal in front of you (and/or may do so after this reading) as a symbol for the message it brings.  If you see this animal often, it is a strong emphasis on a significant message for you at this time. You might see the animal in various places...in the wild, on television, in a magazine, in a dream, etc.  If I drew the Owl totem card, it would be a message about your own intuitive abilities and that you should trust them, especially during this time.   If I drew the Antelope, that's about a need to take action now...

Life Path Number  Your Life Path Number is a number that is calculated using the birthday, and that number represents the archetype in the Tarot that you are most aligned with.  My Life Path number is the 11 (a very spiritual number), which reduces to the 2. The 2 in the Tarot is the High Priestess, she's considered the psychic. But note, we are each all of the archetypes in the Tarot at some time in our lives, even from one day to the next. We might be more like the High Priestess one day (quiet, meditative, hermit-like, very intuitive that day) and then more like the Magician the next (active, goal-oriented, writing or otherwise communicating a lot on that day). But the Life Path Number indicates the archetype that we are MOST like, most of the time. Knowing this number, this archetype, just brings a little more understanding about oneself, one's life, and one's purpose.

When doing a reading, I will either do a spread like the examples shown below, or I'll simply ask the questions and draw cards for the answers. Either way, I always draw additional cards to get clarity on the messages I'm receiving.

About Intuitive or "Psychic" Readings

First of all, everyone is "intuitive" or potentially "psychic." Yes you are :) But we all tend to be fearful of that which we can't explain, that which seems to be "illogical." And fear is a major block to many wonderful things that we could otherwise have in our lives, as well as the culprit of all those not-so-good things. We all have intuition, without question. There's no way we could survive long in this world without it. But often we don't listen to it so well, and that too is when we tend to find ourselves in difficult situations. Although I do believe there are times when our intuition will actually lead us into such situations for our own growth, but that's getting a little deeper into the topic.

As for being "psychic," I believe it's no different than being a gifted painter, singer or writer, etc. We can all paint, sing and write, but most of us will never measure up to Picasso or Shakespeare... Some simply have a natural gift in specific areas. But if we developed and practiced those skills, if we routinely focused on them and believed in our ability, we would get better and better at them. It's absolutely no different with psychic ability.

It is my understanding and experience that the accuracy rate of most legitimate "psychics" or "readers" is at least 80 percent or better. The irony is that even those who have a high accuracy rate still don't have perfect lives. The problem is, we are still human :) It is easier to read for others than it is to read for oneself. It's a matter of objectivity. We want the answers that we want, and therefore tend to not interpret our own readings so well, particularly regarding major life issues. Even though I can get answers very quickly with the Tarot on my own life, I can't always follow through with the advice that comes to me. Here it gets deeper, it's our emotional stuff, our subconscious resistence/fear to changing our lives for the better. And we all have that problem to some extent, we're all human. A "psychic" is not an all-knowing super-person. They don't know everything and they can't get any piece of information just because they choose to do so.

I believe there is always a good reason why certain information can be accessed and certain information cannot be...at that particular time. I listen, and I get what I get...and interpret it to the best of my ability, using my "intuition" paired with my knowledge of the Tarot, symbols, numbers, etc. And I have found that these symbols can often have multiple meanings all in the same reading. It's quite fascinating. I've had some amazing metaphysical experiences, including visions, pre-cognitive dreams, and a plethora of "predictions" over the years that have come to pass. But I want to interject that I believe that most predictions are merely probabilities, albeit strong possibilities, of what may occur. I feel that we do generally have the ability to change those outcomes if we choose to do so. But it requires that we change our energy (our thoughts/feelings/intentions) and our planned actions, upon learning of a possible negative outcome.

Here's a very simple example, let's say a reader tells you that you're likely to be in an argument the next day with your partner. Just knowing that probability is a seed of changing that outcome. As you communicate with your partner the next day, you sense the argument coming on. Maybe you've had the same old argument before...but this time you know what's about to happen, so you decide to change what would be your normal reaction to your partner's statements. You make every effort to be understanding and compassionate in your communication. Doing so is likely to be very uncomfortable. Change ain't easy ;) But once you make it through that discomfort, you're amazed that you did change the outcome for the better. No argument, no repeat of the same old pattern this time, and a more loving connection with your partner. Ideally. And it is this potential for change, for healing one's life, for breaking out of old, destructive patterns that makes accessing intuitive or "psychic" information such a valuable thing.
